Feastward

Last updated: 2026-09-15. Two things changed on this date. Section 10 now names the in-app delete route (it shipped 2026-08-31) alongside the email route, which this document had been describing as the only way to close an account. Section 11 said every unit "is reviewed by a named human before release"; no unit has been through that review yet, so it now states the gate — nothing is marked released without a named reviewer's sign-off — rather than asserting the review has happened.

1. What Feastward is

Feastward is an independent scripture-study app. You get short daily lessons drawn from the standard works, with spaced review so what you learn stays learned.

Feastward is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or by Intellectual Reserve, Inc. Nothing in the app is official Church material, official Church curriculum, or an official Church position. It is a study aid written by people who care about getting it right, and it is not a substitute for the scriptures themselves, for Church instruction, or for counsel from your own local leaders.

By using Feastward you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

2. Who may use it

You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are between 13 and the age of majority where you live, you may use Feastward only with a parent or guardian's involvement, and they agree to these terms on your behalf.

You can use Feastward without an account, and the study content is not gated behind one.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@feastward.org if you think someone else has access to it.

Give us accurate information. Do not impersonate someone else, and do not create an account for anyone else without their permission.

Handles and display names. Choose something you would be comfortable having a friend see. We may reclaim or reset a handle that impersonates someone, that is offensive, or that is chosen to mislead.

4. What you may do with the app

Use it. Study with it. Show it to people.

You may not:

5. Scripture text and our content

The scripture text in Feastward comes from public-domain editions of the King James Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. It is reproduced verbatim and checked against its source automatically before every release.

Feastward does not include, and does not claim any right to, material still under copyright — including current-edition chapter summaries, footnotes, the Topical Guide, the Bible Dictionary, the Guide to the Scriptures, General Conference addresses, official Church curricula, or Church-owned artwork.

Everything else in the app — the lessons, the explanations, the exercise design, the artwork, the software — belongs to Black Sheep Business Enterprises and is protected by copyright. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it, and nothing more.

Church trademarks belong to Intellectual Reserve, Inc. Feastward claims no rights in them and does not use them in its branding.

6. Content you create

Your reflections are yours. They are stored on your device and are never uploaded to us (see the Privacy Policy §4), so we neither hold them nor claim any licence to them.

For the small amount of content that does reach us — your handle, display name, and circle names — you grant us the licence needed to display it to the people you have chosen to share it with. That is the whole of it.

7. Social features are optional

Friends, circles, and leagues are opt-in. Leaderboards default to off and stay off until you turn them on.

If you use them, be decent to the people there. We may remove content, disband a circle, or suspend an account for harassment, impersonation, or abuse.

8. Price, and donations

Feastward is free. Every lesson, every unit, every review session, and every feature is free to every person, with no subscription, no in-app purchase, no advertising, and no paid tier. That is not an introductory price. There is no plan to add one.

The app carries a link inviting you to donate toward the making of more apps like this one. If you follow it:

Nothing that gates the scriptures will ever be sold. Access to scripture text, lessons, and review is not something a paywall will stand in front of. That is a product commitment, and it constrains what we are allowed to sell you.

9. Availability

We try to keep Feastward working and will not promise it always will. Features may change, be added, or be removed. We may suspend the service for maintenance. If we ever discontinue Feastward entirely, we will give account holders reasonable notice and a way to export their data.

10. Ending it

You may stop using Feastward at any time. You may delete your account from inside the app — Profile → Account → Delete account — or, if you would rather not do it yourself or cannot sign in, by writing to hello@feastward.org. Either route removes the same data; see the Privacy Policy §10 for what deletion covers and Delete your account for the itemised list.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, that is used to harm another user, or where we are legally required to. Except where the breach is serious or ongoing, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.

Sections 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 and 14 survive termination.

11. No warranty

Feastward is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

We work hard on doctrinal and textual accuracy — every quoted verse is machine-checked against its public-domain source, and no unit is marked released until a named human doctrinal reviewer has read it and signed it off. A unit that has not been through that review stays marked as a draft, and at the time of writing all twelve of them are drafts. So we do not warrant that the app is free of error, and Feastward is not a substitute for the scriptures themselves or for authoritative instruction. If a lesson and the scriptures disagree, the scriptures are right and we want to hear about it at hello@feastward.org.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Black Sheep Business Enterprises is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of Feastward.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Black Sheep Business Enterprises against claims arising from your misuse of Feastward or your breach of these terms. This does not apply to claims arising from our own acts.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes go to the courts of the State of Missouri, USA.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there.

Before filing anything, write to hello@feastward.org. Nearly everything is a misunderstanding that an email fixes.

15. Apple and Google

These terms are between you and Black Sheep Business Enterprises only — not with Apple or Google.

Apple and Google are not responsible for Feastward, for its content, or for supporting it. If the iOS app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any US Government restricted party list.
